Bio
A native of New York City, Mr. Tilney was educated at Columbia and Harvard Universities. As a photographer, he specializes in 10 to 20-print portfolios on different themes, often reworking the art and architecture from earlier periods and different cultures.
He has been involved in photography for more than 40 years, having studied with Minor White, Jerry Uelsman, Arnold Gassan and Nick Johnson. Exhibitions of his work have been mounted in many galleries and universities, and a number of his pieces are in private collections. In addition to his photography, Mr. Tilney is an economic development specialist, who has managed projects in the US and around the world. Many of his photographs come from the cities and countries where he has worked. Mr. Tilney was a Managing Vice President of Abt Associates, Inc., a major US consulting firm, and ran its economic development practice. He retired in 2004 in order to focus greater attention on photography.
